A special thanks
Smoke in the distance driving to Target was not something I was expecting out shopping earlier this week. The Quarry fire has already evacuated 575 homes and is only 4% contained. In the state headlines of CO lately, fires along the foothills up toward Fort Collins is all we are seeing right now. With acres and acres of land/property being destroy and even a few homes, it brings me back to the Marshall fire in 2021, where 1,084 homes were destroyed with the start of 2 grass fires in the town of Superior in Boulder County (West Denver region). Fires always happen suddenly, and luckily a good majority of the time we get warning.
However, it is always good to be prepared as my husband, a former eagle scout, will tell you. Have an evacuation plan if ever something were to happen with and without notice! In addition, if there is a safe amount of time, make sure to take pictures of the inside and outside of your home for your insurance company. Don’t forget to include pictures of highly value items.
Also, given the smoke in the area surrounding this and other wildfires going on, please be careful if you have any breathing challenges and also if you keep any pets outdoors as they can sometimes be very sensitive to smoke from wildfires.
This is one of the best sites for tracking fires, smoke, and even lightning strikes, well worth a look:
